Hampton Beach tides today
Hampton Harbor, behind the inlet at the south end of Hampton Beach, is the tide station for the main beach of New Hampshire’s short coast.
Shaded: night. Green bands: solunar periods (thick = major, thin = minor). Heights in feet above Mean Lower Low Water, the zero of NOAA charts.

Plan around the tide at Hampton Beach
No window of 30 minutes or more below 1.0 ft over the next 7 days in daylight. Try a higher level.
A falling tide uncovers sand bars and tide pools first; plan to be back before the water rises past the level you chose. Not for navigation.
Station Hampton Harbor (NOAA 8429489). Predicted astronomical tide: wind, river flow and storms can move the real water by a foot or more. 8.9 ft is the average daily range here.

Tide times for Hampton Beach come from the National Ocean Service prediction for station 8429489, Hampton Harbor, a subordinate station whose highs and lows NOAA corrects from PORTLAND. The tide here is semidiurnal: two highs and two lows of similar height every day, about six hours and a quarter apart, with an average daily range of 8.9 ft. Around the new and full moon the range grows to about 10.9 ft on one day in ten, and at the quarter moons it shrinks to 7.1 ft. Heights are in feet above Mean Lower Low Water, the zero of nautical charts, so a negative number is water below that zero: 188 of the 457 days from October 1, 2026 to December 31, 2027 have one, down to -1.7 ft on January 23, 2027. The highest predicted tide of that period is 10.6 ft on December 25, 2026. Clock times are Eastern Time, daylight saving time included.
Eighteen miles of coast, one busy inlet
New Hampshire has the shortest ocean shoreline of any coastal state, and Hampton Beach is its most visited stretch. The tide station is inside Hampton Harbor, the estuary that drains through the inlet between Hampton Beach and Seabrook. NOAA predicts it from Portland, Maine: high water 14 minutes later, low water 32 minutes later, heights multiplied by 0.91. The average day here runs 8.9 ft from low to high.
The later low inside the harbor is typical of an estuary behind a narrow inlet: the water takes time to drain out through the gap, so the harbor keeps falling after the ocean has turned. On the beach itself the tide turns a little earlier than the times shown here.
The inlet and the harbor flats
Hampton Harbor is shallow, with wide flats and marsh channels. At low tide much of it is sand and mud, and boats moored inside sit on the bottom or in narrow channels. Through the inlet the current runs hard in the middle hours of the ebb, and an onshore swell against an outgoing tide makes the mouth rough. Boaters time their trips out and back on the rising tide; the boat ramp planner lists the hours when the water stays above the depth you need.
Merrimack to the south
Five miles south, the Merrimack River mouth at Plum Island and Newburyport has NOAA stations of its own. Up the rivers that feed Great Bay the tide arrives later still: NOAA predicts the Squamscott River railroad bridge more than two hours after Portland, with three quarters of the height. The highest tide of the period here is 10.6 ft, on December 25, 2026.
Highest and lowest tides at Hampton Beach, 2026 to 2027
The six highest highs and six lowest lows predicted for Hampton Harbor between October 1, 2026 and December 31, 2027, one per day. The high-water dates are the king tides of this station; the low-water dates are the best days to see the flats, bars and tide pools.

A subordinate station
NOAA predicts Hampton Harbor from the reference station PORTLAND (8418150): high water 14 minutes later, low water 32 minutes later, heights multiplied by 0.91 at high water and 0.91 at low water. Between those highs and lows the curve on this page follows the shape of the reference station's hourly curve.
