Tybee Island tides today
NOAA predicts Tybee Light, at the north end of Tybee Island, from Fort Pulaski with high water ten minutes earlier and the same height.
Shaded: night. Green bands: solunar periods (thick = major, thin = minor). Heights in feet above Mean Lower Low Water, the zero of NOAA charts.

Plan around the tide at Tybee Island
No window of 30 minutes or more below 1.0 ft over the next 7 days in daylight. Try a higher level.
A falling tide uncovers sand bars and tide pools first; plan to be back before the water rises past the level you chose. Not for navigation.
Station Tybee Light (NOAA 8670892). Predicted astronomical tide: wind, river flow and storms can move the real water by a foot or more. 7.1 ft is the average daily range here.

Tide times for Tybee Island come from the National Ocean Service prediction for station 8670892, Tybee Light, a subordinate station whose highs and lows NOAA corrects from Fort Pulaski, Savannah River Entrance. The tide here is semidiurnal: two highs and two lows of similar height every day, about six hours and a quarter apart, with an average daily range of 7.1 ft. Around the new and full moon the range grows to about 8.8 ft on one day in ten, and at the quarter moons it shrinks to 5.6 ft. Heights are in feet above Mean Lower Low Water, the zero of nautical charts, so a negative number is water below that zero: 167 of the 457 days from October 1, 2026 to December 31, 2027 have one, down to -1.8 ft on January 23, 2027. The highest predicted tide of that period is 8.8 ft on October 27, 2026. Clock times are Eastern Time, daylight saving time included.
Savannah's beach at the river mouth
Tybee Island sits where the Savannah River meets the Atlantic, and its tide is one of the largest on the East Coast south of New England: 7.1 ft on an average day, 8.8 ft on spring tides. The Tybee Light station, near the lighthouse at the island's north end, is computed from the Fort Pulaski gauge, three miles west on Cockspur Island: high water 10 minutes earlier, low water 12 minutes earlier, heights at 99 percent.
Back River, the creeks and Little Tybee
At the south end of the island, the Tybee Creek entrance is predicted from Fort Pulaski with high water 9 minutes earlier and low water 5 minutes later. Across the creek lies Little Tybee, a roadless island of marsh and beach reached by boat or kayak. Crossing the creek mouth on a falling tide against wind can be hard work; paddlers often go out on the last of the ebb and come back on the flood.
The ships and the high tide
Large container ships pass close to the north beach on their way to the port of Savannah, and their wakes can surge up the beach without warning, especially near high tide. The highest prediction of the period is 8.8 ft, on October 27, 2026; the lowest low -1.8 ft, on January 23, 2027. For the island across the sound, see Hilton Head.
Highest and lowest tides at Tybee Island, 2026 to 2027
The six highest highs and six lowest lows predicted for Tybee Light between October 1, 2026 and December 31, 2027, one per day. The high-water dates are the king tides of this station; the low-water dates are the best days to see the flats, bars and tide pools.

A subordinate station
NOAA predicts Tybee Light from the reference station Fort Pulaski, Savannah River Entrance (8670870): high water 10 minutes earlier, low water 12 minutes earlier, heights multiplied by 0.99 at high water and 0.99 at low water. Between those highs and lows the curve on this page follows the shape of the reference station's hourly curve.
