Plan around the tide at Seward
No window of 30 minutes or more below 1.0 ft over the next 7 days in daylight. Try a higher level.
A falling tide uncovers sand bars and tide pools first; plan to be back before the water rises past the level you chose. Not for navigation.
Station Seward, Resurrection Bay (NOAA 9455090). Predicted astronomical tide: wind, river flow and storms can move the real water by a foot or more. 10.5 ft is the average daily range here.
Published by Radif Partners · How the tides are computed · predictions downloaded October 13, 2026
Tide times for Seward come from the National Ocean Service prediction for station 9455090, Seward, Resurrection Bay. The tide here is mixed: two highs and two lows most days, but of unequal size, the two highs of a day differing by 2.0 ft on average, for an average daily range of 10.5 ft between the higher high and the lower low. Around the new and full moon the range grows to about 14.1 ft on one day in ten, and at the quarter moons it shrinks to 7.0 ft. Heights are in feet above Mean Lower Low Water, the zero of nautical charts, so a negative number is water below that zero: 223 of the 457 days from October 1, 2026 to December 31, 2027 have one, down to -3.3 ft on July 5, 2027. The highest predicted tide of that period is 13.7 ft on November 25, 2026. Clock times are Alaska Time, daylight saving time included.
Same peninsula, a third of Anchorage's tide
Seward and Anchorage are about 125 miles apart by road, but they face different seas. Seward's Resurrection Bay opens onto the Gulf of Alaska, and its tide averages 10.5 ft from lower low to higher high, against 28.1 ft at Anchorage at the head of Cook Inlet. The bay is deep, so the tide changes depth at the docks without exposing wide flats like those of the inlet.
A mixed tide in a fjord
The tide here is mixed, with a marked difference between the two highs of a day: 2.0 ft on average. On days near the moon's maximum declination one ebb is long and deep, the other short. The lowest low this period is -3.3 ft, on July 5, 2027, and the highest high 13.7 ft, on November 25, 2026.
Boats, beaches and Lowell Point
For boats leaving the small boat harbor toward Kenai Fjords, the tide matters for ramps and floats, and the weather of the Gulf matters more for the trip. On foot, the beach toward Lowell Point and beyond is passable only at lower tides in some places, so hikers on shoreline routes check the tide before setting out and keep track of time on the way back.
Highest and lowest tides at Seward, 2026 to 2027
The six highest highs and six lowest lows predicted for Seward, Resurrection Bay between October 1, 2026 and December 31, 2027, one per day. The high-water dates are the king tides of this station; the low-water dates are the best days to see the flats, bars and tide pools.
