A falling tide uncovers sand bars and tide pools first; plan to be back before the water rises past the level you chose. Not for navigation.
Station Pensacola Beach Pier (NOAA 8729807). Predicted astronomical tide: wind, river flow and storms can move the real water by a foot or more. 1.4 ft is the average daily range here.
Published by Radif Partners · How the tides are computed · predictions downloaded October 13, 2026
Tide times for Pensacola Beach come from the National Ocean Service prediction for station 8729807, Pensacola Beach Pier. The tide here is mostly diurnal: on 86% of days there is a single high and a single low, and the water rises or falls for hours at a time with an average daily range of only 1.4 ft. Around the new and full moon the range grows to about 2.2 ft on one day in ten, and at the quarter moons it shrinks to 0.5 ft. Heights are in feet above Mean Lower Low Water, the zero of nautical charts, so a negative number is water below that zero: 219 of the 457 days from October 1, 2026 to December 31, 2027 have one, down to -1.0 ft on January 20, 2027. The highest predicted tide of that period is 2.2 ft on October 28, 2026. Clock times are Central Time, daylight saving time included.
The pier, the sound and the city gauge
Around 1.4 ft separates a typical low from the high at the end of the Pensacola Beach Pier, the open-Gulf reading for Santa Rosa Island. Three NOAA gauges sit within seven miles of each other here, and they answer different questions. This one faces the surf. Fishing Bend, less than a mile north, reads Santa Rosa Sound, the narrow water between the island and Gulf Breeze. The Pensacola station itself, up in the bay near downtown, is the long-running reference that NOAA uses to predict much of the Panhandle, Destin included.
Out toward the pass and Fort Pickens
Pensacola Pass opens between the western end of Santa Rosa Island, where Fort Pickens stands, and Perdido Key. On the Perdido Key side NOAA lists the Fort McRee breakwater, computed from Pensacola with high water 83 minutes earlier and heights at 80 percent. South of Warrington, inside the bay near the Naval Air Station, the correction is 27 minutes earlier at full height. The reference, in other words, lags the pass by more than an hour because the tide must wind through the pass and up the bay to reach it.
A season for low water
The daily tide here waxes and wanes over roughly two weeks, and the year adds a pattern of its own. The deepest predicted low of the period is -1.0 ft on January 20, 2027, in the heart of winter, when cold fronts also tend to drive water off the beach with north winds. That combination exposes the most sand along the sound and the most sandbar near the pier. In summer the reverse is more common: southerly winds can hold the water higher than the bare prediction. Anyone planning around a few inches of depth on the sound flats should weigh the wind first. The Gulf Shores page covers the Alabama shore to the west.
Highest and lowest tides at Pensacola Beach, 2026 to 2027
The six highest highs and six lowest lows predicted for Pensacola Beach Pier between October 1, 2026 and December 31, 2027, one per day. The high-water dates are the king tides of this station; the low-water dates are the best days to see the flats, bars and tide pools.
