A falling tide uncovers sand bars and tide pools first; plan to be back before the water rises past the level you chose. Not for navigation.

Station Corpus Christi, Bob Hall Pier (NOAA 8775870). Predicted astronomical tide: wind, river flow and storms can move the real water by a foot or more. 1.7 ft is the average daily range here.

Published by Radif Partners · How the tides are computed · predictions downloaded October 13, 2026

Tide times for Corpus Christi come from the National Ocean Service prediction for station 8775870, Corpus Christi, Bob Hall Pier. The tide here is mostly diurnal: on 70% of days there is a single high and a single low, and the water rises or falls for hours at a time with an average daily range of only 1.7 ft. Around the new and full moon the range grows to about 2.4 ft on one day in ten, and at the quarter moons it shrinks to 0.8 ft. Heights are in feet above Mean Lower Low Water, the zero of nautical charts, so a negative number is water below that zero: 215 of the 457 days from October 1, 2026 to December 31, 2027 have one, down to -1.2 ft on January 21, 2027. The highest predicted tide of that period is 2.6 ft on October 29, 2026. Clock times are Central Time, daylight saving time included.

A city name on an island beach

1.7 ft of average range is what the surf at Bob Hall Pier sees, and it is the figure people usually mean when they look up Corpus Christi tides for the beach. The city itself fronts Corpus Christi Bay, a broad, shallow bay that the Gulf reaches through the passes at Port Aransas and Packery Channel, and the bay's tide is muted next to the open shore. NOAA keeps a separate primary gauge at the Naval Air Station on the bay, about nine and a half miles northwest of the pier; for docks, the bayfront and the bay side of Flour Bluff, that is the one to read.

Packery Channel and the Laguna Madre

Just under four miles north of the pier, Packery Channel cuts between Mustang Island and Padre Island and has its own gauge. Behind Padre Island stretches the Laguna Madre, a long, very shallow lagoon with only a few openings to the Gulf. Its tide is a small fraction of the beach tide, and across much of it the wind sets the water level far more than any astronomical force. Wade fishing on the flats of the Laguna Madre runs on the wind forecast first and the tide table a distant second.

Driving the beach on a falling tide

Padre Island's beach is open to vehicles along much of its length, and the hard-packed sand closest to the water is widest a couple of hours either side of low tide. On 215 days of the period the water falls below the chart datum. A strong onshore wind can drive the swash up to the soft sand even on a modest tide, so check the forecast before planning a drive. The beach walk planner finds the low-water windows, and South Padre Island covers the southern end of the same barrier chain.

Highest and lowest tides at Corpus Christi, 2026 to 2027

The six highest highs and six lowest lows predicted for Corpus Christi, Bob Hall Pier between October 1, 2026 and December 31, 2027, one per day. The high-water dates are the king tides of this station; the low-water dates are the best days to see the flats, bars and tide pools.

Questions about these tides

How high does the tide get at Corpus Christi?

The highest tide predicted at Corpus Christi, Bob Hall Pier between October 2026 and December 2027 is 2.6 ft above MLLW, on October 29, 2026 at 10:08 PM. An ordinary higher high reaches 1.6 ft (the station's MHHW datum). Onshore wind or a storm surge adds water on top of the prediction, so flooding can start lower than the table suggests.

Does Corpus Christi get negative low tides?

Yes. On 215 of the 457 days of the prediction period at least one low falls below 0 ft, the Mean Lower Low Water datum. The lowest is -1.2 ft on January 21, 2027 at 7:30 AM. Negative lows bunch around the new and full moon and uncover the most beach, flats and tide pools.

Why does Corpus Christi often have only one high tide a day?

Along this part of the Gulf of Mexico the daily (diurnal) tidal constituents dominate the twice-daily ones, so on 70% of days the water makes a single rise and a single fall. When the moon is far north or south of the equator the single tide is strongest; near the equator crossings the tide weakens and two small highs can appear.

Why are Corpus Christi tide times taken from Bob Hall Pier?

Because the pier, on the Gulf beach of Padre Island, is where most people meet the tide around Corpus Christi, and it reads the open Gulf directly. The bay in front of the city has a smaller tide and its own NOAA gauge at the Naval Air Station. Use the pier for the beach and the surf, and the bay station for the city waterfront.

Predictions, not measurements: the times and heights are NOAA’s astronomical tide for the station named on the page. An onshore wind, a storm surge or a river in flood can raise the water well above them, and an offshore wind can hold it down. Never use this page to navigate.
