Station Port Aransas (NOAA 8775237). Predicted astronomical tide: wind, river flow and storms can move the real water by a foot or more. 1.0 ft is the average daily range here.

Published by Radif Partners · How the tides are computed · predictions downloaded October 13, 2026

Tide times for Port Aransas come from the National Ocean Service prediction for station 8775237, Port Aransas. The tide here is mostly diurnal: on 65% of days there is a single high and a single low, and the water rises or falls for hours at a time with an average daily range of only 1.0 ft. Around the new and full moon the range grows to about 1.5 ft on one day in ten, and at the quarter moons it shrinks to 0.5 ft. Heights are in feet above Mean Lower Low Water, the zero of nautical charts, so a negative number is water below that zero: 203 of the 457 days from October 1, 2026 to December 31, 2027 have one, down to -1.0 ft on January 21, 2027. The highest predicted tide of that period is 1.8 ft on October 3, 2026. Clock times are Central Time, daylight saving time included.

A small tide in a busy pass

1.0 ft on an average day is a small tide even by Texas standards. The gauge reads the channel inside the jetties rather than the surf, so it tracks the water that boats in the harbor actually float on. On 65% of days a single high stands out; on the others a second, weaker bump appears, often too small to notice from a dock. Near its strongest the daily swing grows to about 1.5 ft, and at its weakest it nearly stalls.

Three gauges, three settings

NOAA keeps a second station at the H. Caldwell Pier, a mile and a half southeast on the Gulf beach of Mustang Island, which is the better reference for anyone fishing or walking the surf. Another sits on the pass itself, about two miles east, and a third farther in at Conn Brown Harbor, the town of Aransas Pass's harbor on the mainland side of Redfish Bay. All are primary stations with their own predictions. If you are on the beach, open the pier station; on the channel, this one; in the bays toward Ingleside, the inner gauges.

Water that obeys the wind

On a tide this small, the forecast often matters more than the moon. Persistent southeast winds through spring and summer lift the level in the bays behind Mustang Island; a winter cold front with strong north winds pushes water out through the pass, sometimes enough to expose flats that are normally covered. The highest prediction of the period here, 1.8 ft on October 3, 2026, is easily topped by a tropical system or a long onshore blow. Current in the pass can be strong whatever the tide height. None of these tables is for navigation, and the fishing tides guide discusses how anglers read moving water; Bob Hall Pier gives the open-beach tide farther south.

Highest and lowest tides at Port Aransas, 2026 to 2027

The six highest highs and six lowest lows predicted for Port Aransas between October 1, 2026 and December 31, 2027, one per day. The high-water dates are the king tides of this station; the low-water dates are the best days to see the flats, bars and tide pools.

Questions about these tides

How high does the tide get at Port Aransas?

The highest tide predicted at Port Aransas between October 2026 and December 2027 is 1.8 ft above MLLW, on October 3, 2026 at 2:48 AM. An ordinary higher high reaches 1.0 ft (the station's MHHW datum). Onshore wind or a storm surge adds water on top of the prediction, so flooding can start lower than the table suggests.

Does Port Aransas get negative low tides?

Yes. On 203 of the 457 days of the prediction period at least one low falls below 0 ft, the Mean Lower Low Water datum. The lowest is -1.0 ft on January 21, 2027 at 7:48 AM. Negative lows bunch around the new and full moon and uncover the most beach, flats and tide pools.

Why does Port Aransas often have only one high tide a day?

Along this part of the Gulf of Mexico the daily (diurnal) tidal constituents dominate the twice-daily ones, so on 65% of days the water makes a single rise and a single fall. When the moon is far north or south of the equator the single tide is strongest; near the equator crossings the tide weakens and two small highs can appear.

Is the Port Aransas tide the same on the beach and in the channel?

Not quite: they are two different gauges. The Port Aransas station on this page reads the channel side of town, while NOAA keeps a separate station at the H. Caldwell Pier on the Gulf beach of Mustang Island. The channel gauge averages only about a foot of daily range, and on this part of Texas a front or a long southeast breeze can shift the level by as much as the tide.

Predictions, not measurements: the times and heights are NOAA’s astronomical tide for the station named on the page. An onshore wind, a storm surge or a river in flood can raise the water well above them, and an offshore wind can hold it down. Never use this page to navigate.
