Fort Myers tides today
The Fort Myers station measures the tide on the Caloosahatchee River at the downtown waterfront, miles upstream from the Gulf beaches that share the city name.
Shaded: night. Green bands: solunar periods (thick = major, thin = minor). Heights in feet above Mean Lower Low Water, the zero of NOAA charts.

A falling tide uncovers sand bars and tide pools first; plan to be back before the water rises past the level you chose. Not for navigation.
Station Fort Myers (NOAA 8725520). Predicted astronomical tide: wind, river flow and storms can move the real water by a foot or more. 1.3 ft is the average daily range here.
Published by Radif Partners · How the tides are computed · predictions downloaded October 13, 2026
Tide times for Fort Myers come from the National Ocean Service prediction for station 8725520, Fort Myers. The tide here is mixed: two highs and two lows most days, but of unequal size, the two highs of a day differing by 0.5 ft on average, for an average daily range of 1.3 ft between the higher high and the lower low. Around the new and full moon the range grows to about 1.7 ft on one day in ten, and at the quarter moons it shrinks to 0.9 ft. Heights are in feet above Mean Lower Low Water, the zero of nautical charts, so a negative number is water below that zero: 201 of the 457 days from October 1, 2026 to December 31, 2027 have one, down to -0.7 ft on February 2, 2027. The highest predicted tide of that period is 1.9 ft on October 28, 2026. Clock times are Eastern Time, daylight saving time included.
A river gauge, not a beach gauge
Only 1.3 ft of tide reaches downtown Fort Myers on an average day, less than half of what the open Gulf shore to the south gets at Naples. The reason is the trip the water makes. A tide entering from the Gulf has to cross the shallow waters around Pine Island and Sanibel, then climb the Caloosahatchee estuary, losing height at each bend. By the time it touches the seawalls along the city's riverfront, it is a modest rise and fall, with the two daily highs unequal by 0.5 ft on average.
Fort Myers Beach, on Estero Island, faces the Gulf directly, where the tide normally arrives before it works up the estuary to this gauge. If your plans are on that sand, treat the river figures here as a late, damped version of the beach tide.
Downstream toward Cape Coral and Iona
Between this gauge and the mouth, NOAA keeps a station at the Cape Coral Bridge, seven miles southwest. Farther down, near Iona Shores, the prediction is built from St. Petersburg, with high water 68 minutes after that reference and heights at 43 percent of its values. That small multiplier says a lot about how sheltered the lower river is.
When the river, not the moon, sets the level
On a tide this small, other forces matter. Fresh water coming down the Caloosahatchee after heavy rain raises the river and can mute the falling tide for days. Wind pushes the shallow estuary around too: a strong blow from the west stacks water up the river, while an east wind after a front drains it. The predicted extremes on this page, from -0.7 ft to 1.9 ft, describe the astronomical tide only, so check river and wind conditions before a launch on a shallow ramp; the boat ramp planner works from the prediction.
