The Atlantic City ocean station, on Absecon Island, is the reference NOAA uses for much of the southern New Jersey coast.
Shaded: night. Green bands: solunar periods (thick = major, thin = minor). Heights in feet above Mean Lower Low Water, the zero of NOAA charts.

A falling tide uncovers sand bars and tide pools first; plan to be back before the water rises past the level you chose. Not for navigation.
Station Atlantic City (Ocean) (NOAA 8534720). Predicted astronomical tide: wind, river flow and storms can move the real water by a foot or more. 4.3 ft is the average daily range here.
Published by Radif Partners · How the tides are computed · predictions downloaded October 13, 2026
Tide times for Atlantic City come from the National Ocean Service prediction for station 8534720, Atlantic City (Ocean). The tide here is semidiurnal: two highs and two lows of similar height every day, about six hours and a quarter apart, with an average daily range of 4.3 ft. Around the new and full moon the range grows to about 5.6 ft on one day in ten, and at the quarter moons it shrinks to 3.2 ft. Heights are in feet above Mean Lower Low Water, the zero of nautical charts, so a negative number is water below that zero: 156 of the 457 days from October 1, 2026 to December 31, 2027 have one, down to -1.1 ft on January 23, 2027. The highest predicted tide of that period is 5.7 ft on August 2, 2027. Clock times are Eastern Time, daylight saving time included.
The ocean reference for the southern shore
NOAA's ocean station at Atlantic City has a long record and serves as the reference for dozens of secondary stations, from Brigantine to Cape May. On an ordinary day the ocean here moves 4.3 ft between low and high, and 5.6 ft around the new and full moon. Ventnor's ocean pier, three and a half miles down the beach, has its own reference station with a very similar tide.
Absecon Inlet and the thorofares
Behind the casinos and the boardwalk, the island is ringed by channels and marsh, and the tide inside lags the ocean. NOAA predicts the Absecon Channel at the Route 87 bridge 38 minutes later, Brigantine Channel at Hoffman Thorofare almost an hour later, Dock Thorofare on Risley Channel 55 minutes later, and Absecon Creek at the Route 30 bridge about an hour and a half later. On the bay side of town, the high you see from a dock can be an hour behind the beach.
Flooding on the bay side
Low streets on the bay side of Absecon Island take water on the highest tides, more so when a northeast wind holds the water in. The top prediction for this period is 5.7 ft, on August 2, 2027; the king tides guide explains why those dates gather around the new and full moons near perigee. The lowest low is -1.1 ft, on January 23, 2027.
Highest and lowest tides at Atlantic City, 2026 to 2027
The six highest highs and six lowest lows predicted for Atlantic City (Ocean) between October 1, 2026 and December 31, 2027, one per day. The high-water dates are the king tides of this station; the low-water dates are the best days to see the flats, bars and tide pools.
