Station Wildwood Crest, ocean pier (NOAA 8535835). Predicted astronomical tide: wind, river flow and storms can move the real water by a foot or more. 4.7 ft is the average daily range here.

Published by Radif Partners · How the tides are computed · predictions downloaded October 13, 2026

Tide times for Wildwood come from the National Ocean Service prediction for station 8535835, Wildwood Crest, ocean pier. The tide here is semidiurnal: two highs and two lows of similar height every day, about six hours and a quarter apart, with an average daily range of 4.7 ft. Around the new and full moon the range grows to about 6.0 ft on one day in ten, and at the quarter moons it shrinks to 3.4 ft. Heights are in feet above Mean Lower Low Water, the zero of nautical charts, so a negative number is water below that zero: 151 of the 457 days from October 1, 2026 to December 31, 2027 have one, down to -1.0 ft on January 23, 2027. The highest predicted tide of that period is 6.1 ft on August 2, 2027. Clock times are Eastern Time, daylight saving time included.

A beach that keeps growing

The Wildwoods are known for an unusually wide beach, built up over decades by sand carried along the shore. On that much flat sand, the 4.7 ft of an average tide moves the waterline a long way, and the walk from the boardwalk to the water is noticeably longer at low tide. The station is an ocean pier at Wildwood Crest, a reference station with its own harmonic constants, so the times here apply directly to the beach.

The back bays run an hour behind

Behind the island, the sounds and thorofares are fed through Hereford and Cold Spring inlets, and the tide comes late. NOAA predicts Sunset Lake in Wildwood Crest from Atlantic City with high water 52 minutes later, Grassy Sound at West Wildwood 57 minutes later with low water more than an hour behind, and Taylor Sound 55 minutes later. Crabbing from a bay dock, the rising water in the evening can be almost an hour later than on the beach.

Highs, lows and the boardwalk season

The highest predicted high of the period is 6.1 ft, on August 2, 2027, and the lowest low -1.0 ft, on January 23, 2027. For the southern tip of the peninsula, see Cape May.

Highest and lowest tides at Wildwood, 2026 to 2027

The six highest highs and six lowest lows predicted for Wildwood Crest, ocean pier between October 1, 2026 and December 31, 2027, one per day. The high-water dates are the king tides of this station; the low-water dates are the best days to see the flats, bars and tide pools.

Questions about these tides

How high does the tide get at Wildwood?

The highest tide predicted at Wildwood Crest, ocean pier between October 2026 and December 2027 is 6.1 ft above MLLW, on August 2, 2027 at 8:27 PM. An ordinary higher high reaches 4.9 ft (the station's MHHW datum). Onshore wind or a storm surge adds water on top of the prediction, so flooding can start lower than the table suggests.

Does Wildwood get negative low tides?

Yes. On 151 of the 457 days of the prediction period at least one low falls below 0 ft, the Mean Lower Low Water datum. The lowest is -1.0 ft on January 23, 2027 at 2:19 PM. Negative lows bunch around the new and full moon and uncover the most beach, flats and tide pools.

How long is it between high and low tide at Wildwood?

About six hours and twelve minutes on average, because the tide here is semidiurnal: two highs and two lows in each lunar day of 24 hours 50 minutes. That is why each tide comes roughly 50 minutes later than the day before. The water moves fastest in the middle two hours of a rise or fall and slows near the turn.

How much later is high tide in the Wildwood back bays than on the beach?

Roughly an hour. NOAA predicts Sunset Lake from Atlantic City with high water 52 minutes later and Grassy Sound at West Wildwood 57 minutes later, while the ocean pier on this page has its own prediction close to the Atlantic City timing. Low water lags even more in Grassy Sound, about 70 minutes.

Predictions, not measurements: the times and heights are NOAA’s astronomical tide for the station named on the page. An onshore wind, a storm surge or a river in flood can raise the water well above them, and an offshore wind can hold it down. Never use this page to navigate.
